Mrs. Rena Draughon Newman of Fayetteville, formerly of Clinton, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at her home surrounded by her children and caregiver. She was 90 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at noon, in the Summerville-Boykin Mortuary Chapel, Garland. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 8, from 11 a.m. – noon, one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Newman is survived by her three children – Donna Newman Day (Thomas B. Day, M.D.) of Columbia, Md.; Peggy Newman Summerville (Albert Summerville) of Fayetteville; Kermit W. Newman, Jr. of Fayetteville; six adoring grandchildren – Taunisha Summerville McNeill (Byron McNeill) of Austell, Ga. and Allison Summerville of Charlotte; Tonya Day Registre (Jerel Registre) of Fulton, Md. and Thomas Newman Day of Washington, DC; Kermit W. Newman,III, “Trey” of Greensboro and Jessica Newman of Fayetteville; four precious great grandchildren – Summer McNeill and Byron McNeill, IV of Austell, Ga.; Kniko Julian Newman Mowatt of Fayetteville; and Mark Pascal Registre of Fulton, Md. She is also survived by her youngest brother, Everette Ray Draughon (Hattie Draughon) of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Doris C. Newman of Fayetteville, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and life long friends.
