The deadline for church briefs is 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. Church briefs can be placed by emailing or leaving a message at 910-644-0447. Briefs run up until the event and do not have to be resubmitted each week.

Andrews Chapel

Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, at 10 a.m.. Prophetess Jeanette Suarez will be the guest minister. The church is located at Reedford Road, Clinton.

Bearskin MBC

Mother’s Day Tea will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9. The guest messenger will be Minister Lisa Morrisey of Littlefield MB Church, Newton Grove. The youth of the church will host Muffins for Mom, 9:30 a.m., Sunday, May 10; Annual Mother’s Day Program will be observed on Sunday, May 10, 11 a.m. The Rev. Mark D. Powell will deliver the message. Music will be rendered by the Mother’s Day Choir.

Cedar Point

The Cedar Point Mother Board and Christian Youth Fellowship will host a roundtable titled “Real Talk” Session 2 on May 16, 2015 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Topics will include music, sex, drugs, alcohol and social networking. Lunch will be provided. Parental permission is required for children under age 18 and parental discretion is advised, content will contain adult language. Parents are encouraged to attend and please invite others. You may contact 910-594-0115 for further information. Our annual health fair will be held on May 30. The focus is ” Staying Healthy at any Age”. Time is from 7:45am to 1:00pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Women and mothers will be honored with a banquet on Saturday, May 9, at 6 p.m. Speaker for the evening will be Helen Thompson, executive ushers’ secretary of the National Baptist Convention. Tickets are required for the event. Church located at 2316 Maxwell Road, Autryville.

Mother’s Day service, Sunday, May 10, at 11 a.m. The guest minister will be the Rev. Phyllis Bolton. The chairperson is the Rev. Regina Rogers.

Saturday we will be at the nursing home with the Smiling Family. Friday Bible study. Monday night at 7:30 p.m. will be intercessory prayer. Sunday morning services, Minister Ellen and Minister Ruth Davis will be the speakers. Sunday at 2 p.m. we will be at the correctional center.

The youth will pay tribute to mothers this Sunday, May 10, at 11 a.m., and they will be in charge of the service. The Rev. Victor Wilson will bring forth the message.

Dr. Eric Bracy, superintendent of Sampson County Schools, will be the guest speaker for Education Appreciation Sunday at Red Hill Universalist Church on May 17, at 11 a.m. The congregation, founded in 1884, has been a supporter of education for all citizens throughout its history, even at times when the value of public education was questioned. The church will honor this commitment by remembering valued educators, awarding prizes to the winning entrants of its recent Teacher Appreciation Contest, and recommitting itself to the ideal of a quality education for everyone. Refreshments will be served following the service. The public is invited to join the congregation in highlighting the importance of education for all people. The church is located at 7031 Taylors Bridge Hwy, about 15 minutes south of Clinton on US 421.
