CLINTON — Allen Walton Daughtry, age 88, passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, surrounded by family.
A private graveside service will be held at Clinton City Cemetery, in Clinton.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris O’Briant officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Allen was born in Clinton, North Carolina on Dec. 20, 1926 to Allen Walton and Ada Tart Daughtry. Mr. Daughtry served his country in the U. S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He spent his working career with the US Postal Service with over 32 years of service. Allen also served on the board of directors for The South Eastern Senior Golf Association. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and one of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Lamb Daughtry; son, Neal Daughtry and wife Sheila of Clinton; grandchildren, Rick, Chris and Kylie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Walton and Ada Tart Daughtry; son, Rick Lamb Daughtry; sisters, Alice Grey Holland, Mary Dixon Waller, Nina Underwood.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sampson Regional Medical Center for their loving care and compassion shown during Mr. Daughtry’s time spent there.
