A routine traffic stop led to the seizure of marijuana and cocaine from two Dunn men.
According to sheriff’s reports released Monday, Gregory Harold Tart, 46, of 360 Tart Town Road, Dunn, was charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies stopped his 2003 Chevy Avalanche Thursday around 2 p.m. on N.C. 242 near Lakewood School Road for failing to maintain lane control.
Tart was issued a citation for the infraction, however, after a K-9 alerted on the vehicle, the car was searched and deputies found what they said was a marijuana cigarette in the ashtray (approximately .4 grams).
Tart’s passenger, David Milton Lee, 45, of 1743 A. N.C. Hwy. 55, Dunn, was searched and was reportedly carrying .9 grams of cocaine.
The car was impounded and both men were taken to the Sampson County Detention Center. Tart was given a $1,000 unsecured bond and a trial date of March 4; Lee was given a $2,000 secured bond and a trial date of March 4.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Lee has two previous convictions for speeding and driving with license revoked from January 1988; Lee has no previous convictions.
