The seventh grade AIG students at Midway Middle School have completed a unit on percents. Their math teachers have done several activities calculating simple interest. They were taught about the different types of bank account such as checking accounts, loans, savings accounts, credit cards, and mortgage applications. They learned how to compare interest rates from area banks. Sue Pearsall from the State Employees Credit Union did a presentation entitled ‘Smart Money.’ Each student was given a booklet on the various aspects of banking principles such as a savings account, checking account, and the history of money. There were several activities to do in the booklet, which the AIG students enjoyed. Seventh grade math teachers are Sarah Brown and Elizabeth Jackson. Their AIG teacher is Rhonda Wooten.
