FAYETTEVILLE — A Sampson County man, with pending burglary and robbery charges in this county, is now wanted in the murder of a Fayetteville teenager.

On Monday, homicide detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department issued a warrant on Rodney Jevon Carr, 26, of Ivanhoe. Carr is being sought in the Nov. 20 shooting death of Gregory Leon Mosley, Jr., 20, of Fayetteville.

At 4:25 p.m. that day, Fayetteville police officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the Strickland Bridge Road Plaza, off Fisher Road. Upon arrival, officers found Mosley seated in the driver’s seat of a black Mazda MPV minivan with a gunshot wound to his torso.

Terrell Jamal Hall, 18, of 308 McKoy Street, Elizabethtown, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder last week. Another teen, Gary Douglas White, 16, of Fayetteville, has been charged with accessory after the fact, a felony offense, in the fatal shooting.

Police continue to look for Carr, who they list as having a Rose Hill address. Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities, who have dealt with Carr in the past, have listed the man as being a resident of Ivanhoe.

Prior run-ins with the law

Not only wanted for murder, Carr also has several break-in, assault and robbery charges pending against him from previous investigations and arrests made by Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities.

Among the pending cases, Carr was charged in November 2007 with the brutal assault of a Turkey man, who was beaten with a brick and robbed of $250. The resident’s home and vehicle were ransacked less than two weeks later. Carr and three others were charged in connection with both incidents.

At the time of the November 2007 arrest, Carr was also linked to a break-in at a home on Peavine Road two months earlier. Numerous firearms, including seven 12-gauge shotguns and three rifles, were stolen during the break-in. As with the assault against the Turkey man, Carr was one of four suspects charged in the case.

Carr was placed under a collective bond of $120,000 for the robbery and break-in cases, and that was subsequently posted. Those charges — first-degree burglary, common law robbery, breaking and entering, felony larceny and two counts of possession of stolen goods — are still pending in the N.C. court system.

According to N.C. Department of Corrections, the murder suspect has previous convictions, all in Sampson, of simple assault/affray, assault on a female and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
