Four women competed for this year’s title in four categories — interview, talent, evening gown and on-stage 1uestion. This year’s theme was “A Night of Stars.” First runner-up went to Sheila Stringfield, who also took home the award for Ms. Congeniality.
Entertaining the audience as the master of ceremonies was Michael Mozingo, an educator in Duplin County. The Giddensville native is a graduate of SCC and was recently named Teacher of the Year at Rose Hill-Magnolia Elementary School.
The pageant was packed with dazzling routines from visiting queens and local entertainment. The opening number was performed by the Junior Musical Footnotes, under the direction of Barbara Taylor. Other entertainment included a vocal duet by SCC instructors Bruce Creech and Rebekah Lowry, who performed “All I Ask of You” from The Phantom of the Opera. Other performers included emcee Mozingo, Alyssa Quattrone, Ms. SCC 2010, and the current Miss Sampson Early College High School RonMeisha Frederick.
As the newly crowned Ms. SCC, Honeycutt will receive a tuition scholarship through the SCC Foundation as well as a complimentary portrait session.
