Roseboro boys split with Union

The Roseboro-Salemburg and Union middle baseball teams took a game each in yesterday afternoon’s double-header in Roseboro. The Leopards won 7-5 in the first game and the Spartans won 4-3 in the second.

In the first game, the winning pitcher for the Leopards was Griffin Faircloth, who had 6 strikeouts. Their leading hitters were Tres Faircloth, Willie Herring, Tim White and David Rivera. Corey Smith pitched for the Spartans, recording 6 strikeouts. Smith also went 2-2 with a home run.

In the second game, the winning pitcher for the Spartans was Tyler Matthis, who recorded 3 strikeouts. Matthis also went 1-2 and recoded a home run and Smith went 2-3 with one run scored. Toby Spell pitched for the Leopards and recorded 6 strikeouts. Spell was a leading hitter for the Leopards along with Herring, Spencer Ray and Faircloth.

R-S finishes the season 4-4 and played third in the conference. They play May 4 at Sampson Middle. Union finished for fourth place in the conference.
