Kara Turlington, third grader of Butler Avenue School, expressed her desire to donate her waist length hair to Locks of Love with her teacher, Tricia Sessoms, above left, at the beginning of the school year. The teacher also vowed to do the same. The two agreed to make the donation for this year’s Relay for Life celebration. Donnie Jackson, above right, beautician at Total E-Clips, was on site during the Kid’s Walk at the 2011 Relay for Life and donated her services to anyone willing to donate to such a worthy cause. Locks of Love provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Kara donated her hair in memory of her aunt Sylvia Ford, who lost her battle with cancer three years ago. The pair donated 20 inches of hair. Kara is the daughter of Mark and Vickie Turlington of Clinton and Sessoms teaches third grade at Butler Avenue School.
