The Harrells Lady Crusaders swept the Parrott Academy Patriots in their season opener Tuesday evening in Harrells.

The varsity Lady Crusaders were led by great serving from Delani Scholar and Kathryn Bridgers, with 8 a piece. There was also superb all-around play from Phoebe Campbell, who enabled the Lady Crusaders to get a 1-0 start.

HCA won the first game 25-23, the third game 25-16 and the final game 25-17. Their only loss was in the second game, where the Parrotts came away victors, 26-16.

After the game, varsity coach Wendy Crumpler commented on the hustle and scrappiness of her Lady Crusaders, saying they still needed work in their transition game, but did well in overall play for their first game of the year.

The JV Crusaders were also successful in their season opener, winning both of their games against the Patriorts.

They won the first game 25-1o and the second 25-19, with outstanding play from Ashley Usher, who contributed 12 serves, 5 aces and 3 assists in the two games.

Haylee Parks also had 10 serves for the Lady Crusaders.

JV coach DeAnn Parks said she was very pleased with the 1-0 start for her Lady Crusaders. She said the good serving and the way her ladies hustled was the key to the opening win. “I am looking for big things this year from our team,” she asserted.
