Christmas by Candlelight

tree lighting and service

Mount Olive College will celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season starting with a tree lighting service on Kemp Commons at 5:30 pm. Nov. 29. Activities will include carriage rides, ice skating, hot chocolate, crafts for the kids, a picture snow globe, and luminaries.

At 7 p.m., in the Lois K. Murphy Regional Center, guests will enjoy a Christ-centered service patterned after the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, a traditional English evening service, which began in Cambridge in 1918. The service will include nine Scripture lessons, tracing salvation history; each reading will be followed by a carol.

The family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
