Arnold Nixton Spell, 47, of 40 Elbert Spell Lane, Clinton, was arrested and served with the charges Wednesday. An official report by Sampson County Sheriff’s detectives, who conducted the investigation, has not been submitted, however jail records indicate Spell is accused of raping a female child on two separate occasions.
Spelll has been charged with two counts of first-degree rape of a child, two counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of first-degree sex offense.
He was booked into the Sampson County Detention Center shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday and placed under $150,000 secured bond for the charges against him.
Jail records list Spell as being employed as a laborer with the N.C. Department of Transportation.
