Two arrests have been made in connection with a meth lab that was discovered in an open field near Faison on Saturday, Jan. 14.

On Thursday, agents with the Special Investigations Divisions arrested Christina Austin 43, of 2057 Pine Ridge Road, and Preston Mayo 29, of the same address, in connection with the meth lab.

Austin and Mayo were each charged with possession of meth precursor and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Austin was placed under a $10,000 bond. Mayo was given an additional charge of simple possession of Schedule VI and placed under a $20,000 bond.

According to reports, a deputy responding to a call to check on an abandoned 4-wheeler in a field just off Junious Lucas Road uncovered the items in an open field. Reports show that he found a propane tank, a gas jug and a camouflage bag. Contents of the bag were not listed in the report.

Through investigation, Austin and Mayo were linked to the lab. According to sheriff’s Cpl. MarcusSmith, the 4-wheeler belonged to the two suspects.
