An unusual home invasion was reported to Sampson County Sheriff’s investigators Saturday evening at a residence on Taylor’s Bridge Highway, south of Clinton.

According to reports released Monday morning, a 48-year-old man, who lives in the 3000 block of Taylor’s Bridge Highway, reported that he and his 50-year-old wife were at home when an alleged suspect came into his home, pointed a gun at them and ordered them into the den of the residence.

The only catch was that the victims knew the suspect and information taken from investigators showed that the case was not what would be classified as a normal home invasion or kidnapping.

No injuries were reported during the alleged incident.

“The victims and suspect were acquaintances,” said Capt. Eric Pope Monday morning. “The case was investigated and since elements and criteria of the offenses were misdemeanors, the victims were told that if they wanted to press charges against the acquaintances, they would have to do it at the Sampson County Magistrate’s Office.”

Pope said that, as of Monday morning, no charges have been taken out on the alleged suspect in the incident.
