The Christian Artist Series of First Baptist Church, 408 College St., Clinton will present Shelley Jennings in concert on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. This series has sponsored well-known artists through the years including Dino, Gary McSpadden, The Masters Five, Tom Netherton, and many more.

Jennings grew up in a house filled with music of every kind — from gospel to pop. She began taking voice lessons in middle school and continued through college, earning a degree in vocal performance at Baylor University.

She began leading music with Sam Perry and Choice Bible Study and then traveled with Soul’s Desire for five years. In 2000, she felt God leading her to Nashville. Since that time, she has logged hundreds of hours as a Nashville session singer for artists such as Big Daddy Weave, Sandi Patty, Alan Jackson, and even the legendary Brenda Lee.

Jennings married John Jennings in 2003 and joined the Women of Faith worship team in 2004. Her debut solo recording, Redeemed, was released in 2006, and drew on her life experiences. Unchangeable contains worship songs that many people are already singing in their churches, and Quiet Rest: Lullabies for the Children of God is a collection of hymns arranged to sooth and comfort people of any age.

After 20 years of music ministry, the world is less at peace now than ever, but Shelley is privileged to be able to share the peace that she has in Christ Jesus through song. First Baptist Church is privileged to offer this concert artist to the community. Admission is free, but everyone must have a ticket. They are available at Matthews Cards & Gifts and at the church office 910-592-8124.
