CLINTON — Mr. Raleigh L. Reeves, 55, of 103 Dogwood Circle, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at Sampson Regional Medical Center, Clinton.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, at First Baptist Church, Clinton with the Rev. Thomas Farrow, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sandhill Cemetery, Clinton.

Odessa L. Daughtry, 88
NEWTON GROVE — Mrs. Odessa Langston Daughtry, 88, of 1163 Old Goldsboro Road, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at Hospice at Wake County WDCC, Raleigh.
The funeral will b e held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Cedar Point Disciples Church, Newton Grove with elder Gary Jones officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Newton Grove.
Mrs. Daughtry is survived by five daughters, Judy McLean of Greensboro, Vivian Daughtry, Juanita Ross and Katrina Daughtry all of Garner, and Jacqueline Miller of Fayetteville; five sons, William Daughtry of Raleigh, Willard Daughtry of Garner, Rickie Daughtry of Fayetteville, Terry Daughtry of Wilmington and Ronnie Daughtry of Newton Grove; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 - 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, with the family present from 6 - 7 p.m. at Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home, Clinton.

Mary E. Herring, 87
GARLAND — Mrs. Mary E. Herring, 87, of 2494 N.C. Hwy. 210 West, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at her residence.

Silvio W. Caruso, 93
CLINTON — Mr. Silvio Wilson Caruso, 93, of 120 Southwood Drive, died in Sampson Regional Medical Center, Monday, Feb. 27, 2012.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m.,Friday at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
Born in 1918 in Riverside, N. J., Mr. Caruso was the son of the late Salvatore and Josephine Ditta Caruso. He attended Elon College on a football scholarship and graduated in 1941 with a degree in biology. It was at Elon that he met his future wife, Geraldine. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII for 4 and half years.
He began his teaching career at Tabor City High School as a football coach and biology teacher. In 1954, the Carusos moved to Clinton, where he taught biology and coached championship football teams at Clinton High School. He later became principal, retiring after 18 years.
Following his retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively and enjoyed attending Elderhostels. They were members of the N.C. Camellia Society and the American Camellia Society. Mr. Caruso avid Camellia grower, who developed two new varieties, and had 150 specimens in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Geraldine Kelley Caruso; daughter, Josephine Caruso of New Mexico, two sisters-in-law, Nina Caruso of N.J. and Myrtle Caruso of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Angelo Caruso, Joe Caruso, Hugo Caruso and Dan Caruso.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Banner Room at the church.

KINSTON — Miss Zannie Ferrell, 83, of 2415 West Vernon Ave., formerly of Sampson County, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston.
A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3 at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, Magnolia with pastor Ronnie Nichols officiating.
Miss Ferrell, born in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Znnie and Ida Merritt Ferrell. She is survived by a sister, Edith Fortune of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and several cousins.
