Upon his arrival in Jerusalem, Nehemiah saw the enemies of God’s people were taking advantage of them because the city had no walls to keep the enemies out. When he first met with the people of Jerusalem, he said: “You see the bad situation we are in—how Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let us build up the walls of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a disgrace. Then I told them of the hand of my God which was upon me for good, and also the words that the king had spoken to me. And the said, Let us rise up and build! So they strengthened their hands for the good work” (Nehemiah 2:17-18).
The same principles in this story apply to you when you realize your life is a mess and the enemy is attacking you because of the way you have lived. You haven’t kept your walls up; you have no protection. But with God’s help you can begin now to build the right kind of life; you can start building walls of protection around yourself so you are protected from the enemy. He may come against you, but his plans will not succeed.
If you feel the storms of life have left you battered and tattered for too long and are ready to build some walls of protection. I’m excited for you. But don’t expect to do it without opposition. That’s just a reality of life. Any time you begin to move forward and do what is right, the enemy will be unhappy. But you don’t need to worry about the opposition, because you have what it takes to win every battle. God is for you, in you, with you, and around you. He also works through you to not only win your battles but to help other people win theirs. Next week a storm is brewin’, so don’t ever give up just because someone tells you that you can’t succeed.
By faith I keep pression on!
