Autryville woman killed in N.C. 24 wreck

TURKEY — A 54-year-old Sampson County woman lost her life late Monday afternoon when her vehicle was hit head-on in an accident that took place on N.C. 24, just east of state road 1915, east of Turkey.

Patsy Bishop Fisher, of 151 Bunnie Lane, Autryville, died Monday after her vehicle was struck by Christel Maria Wilson of Fayetteville.

According to reports from the Sampson County Highway Patrol, Wilson was driving west on N.C. 24 at 5:45 p.m. when her car ran off the right side of the road.

Fisher, whose vehicle was traveling east on N.C. 24, was hit head-on when Wilson “over-corrected” after going off the road, turned back and went across the center lane and into Fisher’s vehicle

Fisher, the mother of two and the grandmother of three, was killed as a result of the crash; Wilson was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill to be treated for injuries related to the accident. According to of hospital officials, Wilson’s condition was listed as “fair” on Thursday afternoon.

Charges are pending against Wilson, highway patrol officials said.
