Blessings come but we must still do our part

Jesus said in Luke 12:48, “For unto whomever much is given of him shall be much required.” Yes, we have a new president and lots of people’s prayers have been answered but now comes the responsibility of what to do next. It’s like people planning so hard for a wedding and it only lasts 40 minutes, but forgetting about the marriage which lasts for life.

I love how Jesus says this because so many of God’s people don’t think that when He blesses you He’s asking for more of you. Have you been guilty of receiving a blessing from the Lord and forgetting what it took to get the blessing? In other words, you prayed and prayed about the situation and when God answered, you quit praying as much.

As the newly-elected president said in his campaign, “change” is what it’s all about. People of God, he is right in so many ways. It’s time to change the way we think about God. So many of God’s people are caught up and praising the creation and forgetting about the creator. If we are not careful and are not trying each and everyday to renew our minds and hearts, we will be guilty of this. I can’t tell you what you need to “change” in your life, but I do know one that Jesus said unto all and it’s in Luke 18:1 “that men ought always to pray and not to faint.” That’s one thing that I believe fits every blood-washed born-again Christian. God is a conditional God who blesses us but expects us to do our part in the blessings.

There has to be an exchange unto us, just as it was with Moses and Joshua. When God shifted or passed the torch to Joshua he expected nothing less than what Moses had done. In fact, Joshua learned what not to do which would help him lead the people even more. Ask the Lord what would he have for you to do this season instead of telling God what you are going to do. That’s change because so many times we forget to stop and say, “Lord, what would You want?” Oh my my, this would bring God’s will into your life and, for once, maybe the scriptures in Matthew 6:33 can come to pass. Jesus said, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” So many people of the Lord are seeking God but not His righteousness which is “holy living.” Maybe this is why you haven’t gotten your breakthrough. You’ve been seeking things first and not God and His righteousness. This is something that needs to change in your daily walk with the Lord. There is a part that we must play in this relationship with Jesus. He will do his part even sometimes when we don’t, but saints, let’s man up or woman up and do as God’s word tells us to do. How much more does the Lord have to give you to believe He will never leave nor forsake you?

President Obama walked by faith, not by sight, towards his dream of becoming the first African-American president. He had people to look up to and who would help pave the way, but as great as they were, none became the president. He had to believe and trust without seeing and God is wanting each and every one of his people to do this each and everyday. There is so much required of us as Christians now that we have a new president. We, unlike the world, know this country has not done what II Chronicles 7:14 says to do which is, “Humble themselves and pray and see (Jesus’ face) and turn from their wicked ways and then (God) will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Saints, we know the true meaning of why this country is like it is and God is telling us He in fact is requiring more of us to pray that this scripture will come to pass this year. Let’s pray this prayer of II Chronicles 7:14 each day of this year and see what God will do for this land.

Prayer: Jesus, forgive us of not carrying our responsibility as you bless us. Help us, Lord, be faithful in our part of this relationship. In Christ name, Amen!
