Gross receipts for the Sampson Regional Medical Center Foundation Partners for Life Golf Tournament, held Thursday at Coharie Country Club, pulled in over $36,000.

First flight winners of the tournament were the HanDee Hugo’s Convenience Stores.

According to Brenda S. Warren, the Foundation’s executive director, the event was another success, thanks to participants, sponsors and volunteers.

“I would like to sincerely thank every person and business who supported our annual golf tournament this year,” she noted. “Many people stepped up to support Sampson Regional in our efforts to provide excellent quality care for our patients and community … I am also very grateful to all of the volunteers who helped the tournament to run so smoothly, as well as the merchants who provided some great door prizes and goody bag items.”

Warren noted that the proceeds from the event (net proceeds will not be determined until later this week) will be used to relocate and purchase new equipment for the blood donor lab, which will be moved to the Outpatient Diagnostics Center. The new location will be more convenient for patients and have access to easier parking, as well as a comfortable and beautiful setting for blood donations, she said.

“We are very proud to operate one of only three community blood donation centers in North Carolina,” she said. “Our blood program provides a safe and reliable blood supply for the patients we serve with all blood donations staying right here at Sampson Regional.”

Warren said offered special appreciation to the tourney’s corporate sponsors. The tournament was supported with two Diamond Sponsors; eight Gold Sponsors; five Emerald Sponsors; 17 Silver Sponsors; and nine Bronze Sponsors.

“We had 57 tee sponsors and a total of 33 teams that played in the tournament,” said Warren. “We are appreciative of the support from GO Automotive, who sponsored the Hole in One Contest for a 2012 Chevy Cruz and to Nissan of Clinton who sponsored the $100,000 Shoot-Out Contest, as well as the Seven Card Stud Contest.”
