Garland man charged with peeping

A 52-year-old Garland man has been arrested after allegedly peeking into the window of his 20-year-old neighbor’s residence Thursday afternoon.

Carl Lee Peterson, 52, of 28 Lover’s Lane, Garland, was charged with secret peeping after being taken into custody Thursday around 2:10 p.m. Peterson was placed under a $500 secured bond and given a trial date of June 11.

According to reports, the 20-year-old woman told officers she witnessed Peterson peeping into a window of her residence, located on Scotty Lane. The woman confronted Peterson and called law enforcement.

The victim, who was not injured in the confrontation, immediately took out warrants for Peterson’s arrest.

Peterson, who denied the charges to deputies, was arrested, taken to the Sampson County Detention Center and charged.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, he has a previous conviction dating back to October 2004. That convictions was for misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.
