Sudie D. Taylor, 88

FAYETTEVILLE—Mrs. Sudie Daniel Taylor, 88, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Taylor was born July 3, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Alva Taylor, and her beloved son, Alva Elwood Taylor.

The funeral will be held 11a .m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at Lake Lynn Baptist Church, Fayetteville. Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Taylor Manning and husband, Gene, of Fayetteville two grandchildren, Tommie Ray Manning, and his wife, Misty, of Stedman, and Kristyn Sue Manning of Fayetteville; and a sister, Sulie Spell of Dunn.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Lynn Baptist Church Building Funds.

Services are entrusted to Reeves Funeral Home, Hope Mills.

Jonathan J. Bullard, III, 33

ROSEBORO—Mr. Jonathan James Bullard, III., 33, of 11133 Broadwater Bridge Road, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at Carolina Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jeff Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bullard was preceded in death by his parents Truman E. Bullard, Sr. and Alice Faye Sessoms Bullard.

Mr. Bullard is survived by three brothers, Samuel Bullard, of Roseboro, T.J. Bullard and Luke Bullard, both of the home.

The family will receive friends on Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home of his brother, Samuel Bullard, 11843 Broadwater Bridge Road, Roseboro.

David Nakethen Parker, Infant

CLINTON — David Nakethen Parker, Infant, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Ryleah Naema Bell.

He is the son of Nadine Devon Bell and David Keith Parker, one brother, Rodney Naheim Carlton.

A burial will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Bell Cemetery, Faison, with Dr. Tammy Cunningham officiating.

Family request that all family and friends to meet at 21 Terrell Lane, Clinton prior to the service.

D. Mack Draughon, 62

FALCON—Mr. Donnie Mack Draughon, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at Rex Hospital.

Mr. Draughon was born n Harnett County on Dec. 18, 1946.

The son of the late George Compton and Lila Page Draughon and is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Draughon. He was the owner and operator of Martins Pork in Falcon. He was a member of South River Community Church.

The funeral will be held 2 p.m. today, Jan. 30, at J.A. Culbreth memorial Auditorium, Falcon with the Rev. Lynn McLaurin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery on Hwy 13, Godwin.

He is survived by a daughter, Beth D. Holmes and husband, Steven, of Godwin, a sister, Georgia Godwin and husband, Lamont, of Asheboro, a sister-in-law, Jeanette Draughon of Falcon; two grandchildren, Miranda Holmes and Walker Holmes, several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends, Thursday, Jan. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Culbreth Memorial Auditorium in Falcon.

John L. Besaw, 64

ROSEBORO—Mr. John Lawrence Besaw, 64, of 607 N. Pine Street, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at Duke Medical Center in Durham.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Fernando Torres officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Mr. Besaw was born in 1944 in Norfolk, New York to the late Andrew Matthew and Mary Elda Newvine Besaw. He was a Fourth Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus, a Roseboro town commissioner, and was instrumental in forming the Roseboro Community Watch. He worked as a Tool and Dye Worker with General Motors.

Mr. Besaw is survived by, his wife, Bihong Zhou Besaw of the home; one daughter, Heather Jordan of New York; three sons, John L. Besaw of Illinois, Shawn Besaw of Texas, and Jiang Lu of Roseboro; two sisters, Margaret Mello and Rosemary Hunter, both of Roseboro; two brothers, Robert Besaw and Michael Besaw, both of Roseboro; and seven grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro St., in Roseboro.

Katie S. Pope, 45

CLINTON—Ms. Katie Darlene Shipp Pope, 45, of 760 Murphy Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at her home.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30, at Clinton Family Worship Center with pastor Lynn Blackburn and chaplain Roy Hilburn officiating. Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31.

Ms. Pope, a native of Sampson County, was the daughter of Willie Melvin Shipp and the late Lillie Catherine Ezzell Jones. She was also predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Irvin and Margaret Jones; her paternal grandparents, Bernice and Estelle Shipp; and a niece, Mackenzie Herring. She worked at Dodger Industries and was a member of the Clinton Family Worship Center.

Survivors are her father, Willie Melvin Shipp, and his wife, Frances, of Newton Grove; three sisters, all of Clinton: Donna Shipp Hopkins and husband, Donald, Sharon Shipp Herring and husband Freddie, Janet Shipp Herring and husband, Mack; a brother, Melvin Todd Shipp and wife Karen of Raleigh; nieces, Daphne Melvin, Mikayla Shipp, and Logan Herring and nephew, Patrick Shipp; and great-nephew Zackery Melvin.

The family will receive friends after the service Friday evening at the Clinton Family Worship Center, 103 Raiford St., Clinton, and at other times at the home.
