On May 6, 2012, Carrie Gray Sanderson graduated from Meredith College with the highest academic distinction of Summa Cum Laude. Summa Cum Laude is earned by students who have an overall GPA of at least 3.9 out of a 4.0. She earned a bachelor of science degree with both an accounting and economics major and a finance minor.

In a campus-wide awards ceremony held the week before, Sanderson was presented the Lois E. Frazier Academic Performance and Service Award. This award is given each year to a sole senior who excels in scholarship, leadership, and service, and is considered the highest honor a business student can receive. She was also inducted this year into Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges for her scholastic achievements and her strong leadership skills.

Sanderson has received many honors during her time at Meredith College. She has been named to the Dean’s list every semester and has also been inducted into several prestigious honors societies such as Beta Gamma Sigma, Delta Mu Delta, Kappa Nu Sigma, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and Alpha Lambda Delta.

In addition, she has been heavily involved in extracurricular activities at the college. She has served as treasurer for the Class of 2012, president and vice president of the Meredith Accounting and Finance Association, a faculty elected member of the Student Business Advisory Board, and a publicity co-chairwoman of Alpha Lambda Delta.

Sanderson will be interning in the Raleigh office of accounting firm Grant Thornton this summer before attending N.C. State University in the fall for her Masters in Accounting.

She is the daughter of Herb and Sheila Sanderson of Harrells.
