Union Middle falls to Leopards

UNION — The Union Middle School basketball teams hosted the Roseboro-Salemburg Leopards on Monday in their last regular season game with the Leopards improving the win record by defeating the Spartans in both games.

The Lady Leopards won their match-up 30-15 over the Lady Spartans.

Leaders for RSMS: Teisha Rich, 8 points; Katie Stewart, 3 points; Brittany Boykin, 2 points Morgan Herring, 2 points Kerri Ruffin, 2 points; Bianca Moore, 13 points.

In the boy’s game the score was much closer as the RSMS Leopards pull out the win in the final seconds of the game to win 33-30 over the Spartans.

“It was a really good game. Both teams really played well and fought hard in a very close game. We were just fortunate to get off the last shot to get the win,” commented Leopard boy’s coach Todd Wheeler.

Leaders for RSMS: Nikin Henry, 3 points, 5 steals; Ryan Enfinger, 7 points, 5 steals; Nick Butler, 6 points; Rashad Davis, 2 points, 6 rebounds; Kevin Murphy, 5 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals; Corey Parker, 4 points; Matt Bowker, 2 points; Parsell Murphy, 3 points, 7 rebounds.

The play in game for the Sampson County Middle School Basketball Tournament will be held on Thursday but sites and teams involved have not been provided as of press time.
