A traffic stop early Monday morning turned up myriad drugs and left a 28-year-old man, who allegedly had just left a party and got behind the wheel, in trouble with law enforcement.

Steed Kirven, 28, of 201 Warsaw Road, Clinton, was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia after being pulled over at 3:01 a.m. on Stewart Avenue, near College Street, in Clinton.

According to reports, when Kirven was stopped, he dropped two clear bags containing substances — one a white powdery substance, the other, marijuana.

Officers also seized a plastic straw; 30 1/2 pills of Dilaudid; 22 pills of Xanax; five pills of Diazepan and a pill bottle with no label on it.

Reports note that Kirven told investigators he had just come from a nearby party where he allegedly got into a fight with another male subject. When he left, he believed that the people at the party called police to “get him in trouble.”

Kirven was placed under a $10,000 bond and given a July 6 trial date.
