Detectives working the Dollar General Store armed robbery in Roseboro two weeks ago say they are working diligently to bring the suspects to justice.
“We are definitely closer,” stressed Capt. Julian Carr Tuesday. “We are still following up on information we have on the suspects, as well as the woman who attempted to use a credit card from the robbery at another store that same night. Yes, I would say we are closer.”
On Thursday, June 24, around 8:48 p.m., two men burst into the Dollar General store, located at 608 N.C. Hwy. 24, brandishing weapons and demanding cash from the store clerk. The clerk attempted to open the cash drawer, but was thrown to the floor by one of the suspects, who immediately grabbed the cash register and ran out of the store.
One suspect was described as a young black male, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and a red, white and blue baseball cap.The second suspect was described as a black male wearing black shorts, a black long-sleeved shirt, tan boots and a camouflage baseball cap. Both suspects were armed with handguns.
Within hours after the robbery, an unknown, heavy-set white woman attempted to use one of the credit cards that had been stolen in the robbery at a store in Fayetteville.
It is not clear if the woman has any connection to the two young African-American suspects who robbed the store that night, but because of the time frame and the cards being used, a link is likely, investigators note.
“We just want anyone who has information on these three suspects to call us,” Carr added.
Anyone with information on those suspects or who may have been in the area at the time of the robbery, is asked to call the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-592-4141. All tips will remain anonymous.
