The Sampson County Board of Commissioners and its chairman Billy Lockamy, far right, recognized county retirees Carolyn Parrish and John Bass during the board’s recent meeting for their years of service to the county. Parrish served the county as an employee of the Department of Social Services for 30 years, from 1982 to 2012. Bass served with the Sheriff’s Office from 2004 to 2012. Also set to receive plaques in recognition of their dedicated service, but not present at the meeting, are: Alice Simmons, Lacy Bell and Vicky Cogdell, all from Head Start, as well as Janet Rosenberger, with DSS. Simmons and Cogdell each retire with 20 years of service, Rosenberger with 21 and Bell with 31 years. Lockamy lauded all the retirees and thanked them for their dedication to Sampson County.
