NEWTON GROVE — Mrs. Janie Ruth Lee Parker, 83, of Kornegay Town Road died at her home on July 11, 2012.
Mrs. Parker was born Oct. 16, 1928 in the community of Easy Street in upper Sampson County. She was the daughter of the late Eston and Ruth Jones Lee. She was raised by her maternal grandmother “Mummie” Serena “Rena” Owens Jones of the Westbrook community. She was a graduate of Westbrook High School. She had lived at the same home in Newton Grove for 62 years as a homemaker and farmer.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years Kenneth Langdon Parker of the Broadslab area of Meadow in Johnston County; a daughter, Serena P. Findley and husband, Dan of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; sons, Tony and Joseph Parker of Newton Grove and Dennis Parker of Greensboro; grandsons, Daniel and William Findley of Edgewater, Fla.; great-granddaughters, Heleana Rose and Siena Grace Findley; sister-in-laws, Marglean Tart and Edna Jernigan both of Dunn and Mildred Parker and Jean Parker both of Four Oaks.
Mrs. Parker is preceded in death by her sisters, Claudia Darden, Pheora Adams, Inez Stancil and Mabel Dragon.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 14, at West and Funeral Home Chapel in Newton Grove officiated by Rev. Walter Gaskins. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.
