CLINTON — Mrs. Mary Lois Barefoot Lewis, 87, of 2449 Keener Road, passed away Saturday, July 14, at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
The funeral will be held, 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, at Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church, 2336 Keener Road, Clinton, with the Rev. Jerry W. Parsons and the Rev. Alan Gore officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lewis, born in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Palmer and Bertie Barefoot, and was the widow of P.R. (Rance) Lewis. Mrs. Lewis, by all standards, was an exceptional lady. She was an inspirational teacher of God’s plan for salvation, a mother of three, grandmother of five and a great-grandmother of seven. She was always there as a pillow of strength. She was a long time member of the Golden Age Fun Club and Band. Mary Lois was predeceased by three brothers; Audie P. Barefoot, Theotis B. Barefoot, and Earl Mayo Barefoot.
Survived by daughter, Carolyn Lewis Creech, and her children, Ricky Creech, wife, Lara, and their children, Rance and Mary Kellan of Wallace; Lynn Creech Braxton, husband, Joey, and their children, Caitlyn and Wesley of Greenville; son, Stephen P. Lewis, wife, Vicki J. Lewis of Colorado Springs, Colo. and their children, Todd Lewis and children Tyler and Francesca of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Marcia Packard, husband, Steven and son, Daniel, of Surprise, Ariz.; son, Timothy P. Lewis, wife, Vicki B. Lewis, of Orlando, Fla., and their daughter, Regina Lewis, of Miami, Fla.
The family received friends, 7-9 p.m., Monday, July 16, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and other times at the home of Carolyn Creech, 1816 Keener Road, Clinton.
