The Bellamy Recreation Center has implemented new programs this summer and staff there are inviting residents from across Sampson County to come and be a part of the fun events they say are going on right here in Clinton.

We would love for everyone to enjoy those activities, said Jessica Newton with Clinton’s Recreation and Parks Department.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 2 until 5 p.m., the Bellamy Recreation Center opens up the door for anyone who would like to play basketball. The cost is $3 a day for participants 18 years of age and older. Anyone 16 and below must be accompanied by an adult or a person 17 or older.

Have you been interested in living a healthy lifestyle but lack the knowledge or discipline to do so? Come join the Healthy Habits class offered every Monday at 9:30 a.m. In this class, Newton said participants will learn how to gradually change old habits and learn how to make new ones. Healthy eating and exercise will also be discussed.

The important part of exercise is learning how to make it fun and enjoyable by doing things you love! Do you love to dance and have fun? Well come learn basic Salsa steps on Tuesday July 24, from 2:30 until 5 p.m.. Salsa dancing is a popular Latin American dance. This is a one time class, so don’t miss out! The cost is $10 per couple.

Water aerobics is now offered at Royal Lane pool. For just $1 per session, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a low impact form of exercise. Classes are on Monday-Friday 9 a.m. and Monday-Thursday 6 p.m. Royal Lane pool also offers swimming lessons for all ages! The cost is $30 for city residents and $40 for county residents.

On Friday nights, Royal Lane Pool has family night from 6 until 8 p.m. During this time, families are able to enjoy friendly competitions in the water as well as outside the water and have the chance to win free pool passes! The cost for family night is $3 for those 16 and older, $2 for those 15 and younger, and $1 for those 55 and above. Please call 910-299-4900, ext. 3099 for more information on the aquatic programs.

Are you interested in joining a program that is about saving money? Bring your coupons, scissors, and a smile to the Coupon Exchange Club on Friday July 27 at 10 a.m.. At the Coupon Exchange Club, you will have the opportunity to collect coupons by swapping ones you do not use. This is also an opportunity to share money saving tips with the group.

All of our programs are for everyone to enjoy, Newton stressed. If you have any questions regarding these programs or other programs offered, please call Jessica Newton at 910-299-4900, ext. 3072
