RALEIGH — Caroline Clement of the Midway FFA Chapter participated in the State FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Career Development Event on June 20, at the 84th North Carolina FFA State Convention held at the Raleigh Convention Center. Her FFA advisors are Scott Jolly and DeLeon Wilks.

Clement will compete at the 85th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. this October. Event participants are given 30 minutes to prepare a speech on a general agricultural topic. The speech must be four to six minutes in length. At the conclusion of the speech, the judges may question the speaker up to five minutes. Finalists are selected based on speech delivery, content and responses to the questions.

The North Carolina FFA is a youth organization of over 18,000 student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture with nearly 250 local chapters across the state. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
