Investigators arresting a man wanted for a probation violation got more than they bargained for when they reportedly found he was carrying marijuana and crack cocaine.

Kenneth Scott Foster, 45, of 800 Kennedy St., Clinton, was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; possession with intent to sell/deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Clinton Police reports, Sampson County Probation and Parole agents requested assistance in serving Foster with the probation violation after an one of the officers noticed Foster outside of his home Friday, Aug. 3, around 3:30 p.m. and searched him.

The officer observed a Coke can in Foster’s pocket that, he said, appeared ‘heavier than usual’ and was actually hollowed out and had a screw top on it.

Inside the can, the officer discovered four baggies filled with a substance believed to be marijuana. Also discovered in the watch pocket of the suspect’s pants was a small bag of crack cocaine.

Foster was immediately arrested

In all, police seized .4 grams of marijuana and .09 grams of crack cocaine.

The suspect refused to answer questions during police interviews with him and he was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center where he was charged and plced under a $50,000 secured bond.

He made his first court appearance Friday afternoon.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Foster has a history of convictions dating back to 1993. Those convictions include: possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, DWI and operating a vehicle without a license (January 1993); possession of a firearm by a felon (September 1995); DWI level 2, failure to heed light/siren, and driving with license revoked (March 2001); possession with intent to sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance (September 2005); and DWI level 2 (June 2009).
