Although local law enforcement agencies seem to be confused about who actually made the arrest, one Sampson man is in custody today facing myriad felony drug charges, after being jailed by someone early Thursday morning.
Quentin Lamar Shipp, 30, of 234 Hanson Road, Clinton, was charged with selling a Schedule VI controlled substance; delivering a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; manufacturing a Schedule VI controlled substance; and three counts of trafficking opium or heroin.
Shipp was arrested and taken into custody on Loop Road and N.C. Hwy. 24 Thursday morning around 1:05 a.m.
The report was filed at the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, however officers that said information about the incident needed to come from the Clinton Police Department.
According to Capt. Eric Pope with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest was made in connection with an investigation by the Clinton Police, a fact confirmed on the arrest report.
“He lives in the county,” Pope said Thursday. “We do not have an incident report because the investigation was made by the Clinton Police.” What was at the Sheriff’s Department was a filed arrest report.
However, Clinton police officials said that the case belonged to the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office. By late Thursday afternoon, a report explaining the incident and arrest in detail was not made available from Clinton’s Police Department.
Shipp was placed under a $100,000 secured bond and given a trial date for Aug. 17.
