Although local law enforcement agencies seem to have been confused about an arrest early Thursday morning, Det. Anthony Davis of the Clinton Police Department explained the mix-up Friday.
Quentin Lamar Shipp, 30, of 234 Hanson Road, Clinton, was charged with selling a Schedule VI controlled substance; delivering a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; manufacturing a Schedule VI controlled substance; and three counts of trafficking opium or heroin, after being arrested by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office Thursday around 1:05 a.m. after being pulled over on Loop Road and N.C. Hwy. 24.
According to Davis, warrants were taken out on Shipp after an undercover investigation where he allegedly sold pills and marijuana to undercover agents.
“We also had search warrants for his house,” the detective said. “We went in and found him growing marijuana plants inside his house.”
Davis said that the mix-up occured because he was not scheduled to work Thursday and did not know that Shipp had been taken into custody. Shipp was placed under a $100,000 secured bond and given a trial date for Aug. 17.
