KENANSVILLE, NC – The 2012 graduating class of James Sprunt Community College’s Practical Nursing Program was honored during its pinning ceremony held Wednesday, Aug. 8 in Monk Auditorium on the JSCC campus.
The 13 attending graduates were Katrina Broadie, Phyllis Dail, Jessica Fischetti, Hannah Johnson, Angel Likens, Maureen O’Dell, Amanda Price, Laurie Roderick, Melody Rouse, Diresha Rush, Holly Waters, Dana Williams, and Heather Yopp. Not attending was graduate Sharon Conic.
The time-honored tradition of pinning marks the significant milestone of transition from nursing school to the nursing profession. Upon completion of the course of study, the graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-LPN), which is required to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Student Heather Yopp gave the invocation with welcoming remarks by Katrina Broadie, followed by class speaker Hannah Johnson. Jessica Fischetti provided closing remarks. Practical Nursing instructor Barbara Brown awarded pins, and Mary Mical, administrative assistant to the Department of Health Education, presented roses to each of the graduates. Riley Barwick, Practical Nursing Instructor, led the recitation by graduates of the Practical Nurse’s Pledge.
