Under threatening skies and occasional showers, the 2012 edition of the annual Sampson County Pigskin Jamboree made it Friday night at Clinton High School. The four county teams and Clinton High scrimmaged each other for nearly two hours before the weather called a halt to the action.
The format for the jamboree was two teams lined up on each end of the field and ran as many offensive plays as they could in 10 minutes. Then they switched to defense as another team went to offense.

Hobbton coach Jeff Byrd said, “I thought it was ugly. We just looked sloppy on both sides of the ball. We didn’t hit anybody defense and on offense we didn’t know who to block. We are going to have to get a lot better or it will be a long season.”
Despite Byrd’s comments, Hobbton did have some bright spots in the contests by scoring a couple of times.
The Wildcats will begin their season Friday night with an endowment game at Princeton. Game time 7:30.
