Sorry I missed the article last week, but there was so much to do, I just missed the deadline! So many people asked me Sunday, even my husband asked about it. So Miss Delcie Norris, Ms. Strickland and Ms. Smith this is especially for you all, read and enjoy. Thank you Ms. Edna for planning all your recipes with me. This lady loves recipes.

By the time you read this article, the Step Parade and Celebration will be over in Garland Hope everyone had a great time. Please continue to help “Greatness Grow in Garland.” That is our new slogan. Anything that grows needs the right ingredients. So let’s continue to feed our community with, good thoughts, new ideas, and plenty of hard work. Let’s all stand together. As the old saying goes: together we stand, divided we fall.
A little news: my daughter just moved back to N.C. Se always loved working on the farm, especially cropping tobacco. It’s kind of funny. She said “I want to do like the people from the north did, when I was young!” They would stop by the field where we were all sweaty and dirty and they’d watch for a few minutes, and then drive off in their nice cars, and crisp shorts and sun dresses. She said “I always wanted to know how it felt.” So now she said, “I think I’ll do it.” She was a number 1 farm girl for Mr. Buddy Simmons, Richard, and Gent Brewington. Well now! Memories there are nothing like them. They are much more fun when you share them with people who identify with you.
Let’s read some words to live by. There is a lot of meaning in these saying so think about them and store them in your mind and heart:
“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve — the fear of failure.” ~ Paulo Coelho
“I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
“We are judged by what we finish, not by what we start.” ~ unknown
We are still seeking for volunteers to deliver meals. It is rewarding. Only six meals on a four-day route. Please consider!! Any day Monday - Thursday after 10 a.m.
Until next time, stay cool and connected Under the Shade Tree. I love the memories — one day I just might write a short Shade Tree Memory Book.
