A Plain View teenager has been arrested on charges that he broke into a Roseboro-area residence and made off with more than $2,000 worth of items from the home. He is now facing theft charges — and many more.

Joshua Luther Pegues, 18, of Hollerin Road, Dunn, has been charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. The charges against the teen stem from an investigation into the break-in of Sylvester Pittman’s home on Mount Elam Church Road, reported just four days prior to Pegues’ arrest.

The report came in to the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. According to authorities, the back door to Pittman’s home was forced open and several items were taken in the incident, including a 42-inch plasma television, a Dell laptop computer, Nintendo Wii video game system and five Polo-style shirts.

Pegues was taken into custody at his Hollerin Road home Monday and charged with the theft. According to reports, the television was valued at $900, the laptop at $1,100 and the Wii at $250. The shirts were valued at a collective $100, bringing the total value of the items to $2,350.

Authorities said in reports that none of that property has been recovered.

Pegues received $32,000 secured bond for the breaking and entering and larceny charges. Additionally, the teen received another $30,000 bond for failing to appear in court to face numerous other offenses.

According to sheriff’s reports, Pegues was charged with failure to appear on charges of misdemeanor fleeing to elude arrest, fictitious registration, no insurance, no registration card, expired registration card, window tint violation and failing to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of address change.

This is a shame, indeed! What is really sad is the fact that Mr Pittman would probably have given this piece of crap those polo shirts to wear if he needed them. I hope to see justice served.
