Doyle Smith, 71, of Dunn, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 at UNC Hospitals.
He was born Oct. 29, 1940 in Bladen County to the late Sanford and Annie Grace Hilton Smith. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia Cain and Sally Lee, and one brother, Worth Smith.
Mr. Smith was retired from South River Electric Membership Corporation. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his farm in Bladen County and spending time with his family.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Churc h Tabernacle, U.S. Hwy. 421 (6050 Plain View Highway), Dunn, with the Rev. Tom Wagoner and the Rev. Amos Smith officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Smith Memorial Garden Cemetery, Mote Roard, Cypress Creek.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth (Lib) McCall Smith of the home; a daughter, Tami Jackson (Tim); two sons, Howard Smith and Dale Ray Smith (Robin); nine grandchildren, Keli Byrd (Nicholas), Matthew Smith (Carolyn), Melissa Jackson, Holly Pope (Tommy), Molly Smith, Cody Smith, Lana Smith, Madi Smith, Maiya Smith; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Harrison Byrd, Aaron Bass and Landon Smith; three brothers, Amos Smith (Alice); Ralph Smith (Pearl) and Baxter Smith (Sheila), all of Garland; one sister, Carol Laymance of Havelock.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home, Dunn.
