A 30-year-old Clinton man was taken into custody over the Labor Day weekend, charged with assault with a deadly weapon, after officers were called to a local eatery to deal with a threat.

Police reports show that Maurice Dewayne Williams, 409-D Sampson St., was arrested Friday night and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and trespass. Bond was set at $5,000. His trial date will be Sept. 24.

Williams allegedly was at Wingz American Grill, 351 Northeast Blvd., Clinton, around 9 p.m. Friday when he pulled a knife and threatened the manager.

Officers were called to the scene when the suspect refused to leave the premises.

A kitchen knife was seized from Williams after officers arrived and placed him under arrest.

No further information was available at press time.
