The Midway High School Varsity Baseball team was named co-champions of the CCSSL summer league. They shared the title with West Johnston High School due to a storm that cancelled the championship game tied at 1. The CCSSL summer league consisted of 67 teams spanning all over central and eastern North Carolina. There were 16 teams at the end of the regular season that qualified for the playoffs. The first two rounds of the tournament were held at Midway. Game 1: Midway beat Scotland County High 8-6. In round 2, Midway beat Bunn High School 3-0. In the semifinals, Midway beat Orange County High School 3-2 and West Johnston beat Richmond County High 3-2. Then in the finals, a storm cancelled the championship game with Midway and West Johnston tied at 1, giving both teams a share of the summer championship.Pictured are Heath Smith, Matthew Phillips, Jansen Wrench, Cameron Baggett, Cody Baker, Troy Spell, Matthew Barefoot, Tyler Pope, Taylor Calcutt, Cody Aman, Michael Hall, Kyle Hawley, Ryan Lee, and Luke Clark along with their coaches.
