Union’s girls didn’t have a successful day Monday when they battled Rosewood’s Eagles, but Dana Strickland said she was proud of her JV team despite the 2-1 loss.
Both the Spartan varsity and JV fell at Rosewood — the JV lost 25-15; 16-25; 25-22 and the varsity 25-12; 25-9; 25-17 — in the non-conference matchup.
“I was very proud of my JV,” coach Dana Strickland said. “They never gave up. It’s the one problem we’ve had all season — giving up when it looked difficult to win. But that’s not what happened tonight. The JV really played hard. They have nothing to hold their heads down about.”
The varsity, on the other hand, didn’t play like Strickland had hoped.
“Honestly, it looked like they didn’t even show up. I don’t know what was wrong, whether it was because they were coming back from the weekend or what. They just didn’t put forth the effort I know they can put forth,” Strickland said.
The Lady Spartans return to the volleyball court Tuesday for another conference match, this one an away game against Trask.
