Union’s junior varsity girls got back in the win column Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Trask Lady Titans in a road game.
The varsity didn’t fair as well, losing in three.
Set scores were not available at press time.
Although the JV girls got the win, coach Dana Strickland said she still didn’t think they played as good as they had on Monday when the lost in three to Rosewood.
“I didn’t see the enthusiasm from the JV; in fact, I thought they seemed a little dull out there on the court. We were lucky to win those two games,” Strickland attested.
The junior varsity, she said, usually plays with more intensity and works harder on the floor, two things she thought was lacking even in victory.
“The truth is, I’ve just seen them play better than they did against Trask.”
As for the varsity, the coach seemed perplexed by the team she has said has talent but has yet to exhibit it the way Strickland believes they can.
“I’ll take the blame. I can’t seem to find what works with them, and they can’t seem to put it together,” Strickland said.
Union returns to the court Thursday when they host county rival Midway. The game begins at 4:30 p.m.
