The ‘Cats and the Tigers tangled Wednesday night, and when the dust settled, it was the Tigers who were sent packing following a 3-0 Hobbton sweep.

Although coach Bryan Martinez said he thought the Hobbton boys were a bit timid at the start of the match, once they found their confidence, they found the back of the net.

“It was just an awesome win,” Martinez said. “The guys looked a little shaky when we first started, but then things started clicking and they went at it hard and fast.”

Hobbton scored all 3 of its goals in the first half. Jose Delgado hit the back of the net first off an assist by Dalin Ruiz. The second goal came from Eber Gomez and the third from a free kick by Belardo Velardo.

Wildcat keeper Aldair Feliciano had 10 saves.

Although the young Wildcats still have room for improvement, Martinez said, he was beginning to see a turnaround. “They are slowly improving and becoming a good team, the team I know they can be.”

Hobbton moves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference. They travel to rival Union for a 5 p.m. game Monday.
