GREENVILLE — Mrs. Vertie B. King, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. King, a native of Sampson County, was a daughter of the late Live and Sarah Frances Jackson Bradshaw. A resident of Greenville since 1946, she was a member of Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church and the Women’s Group there. She had been a member of the Greenville Service League and the Jaycee-ettes. She enjoyed playing golf and was a former member of the Greenville County Club where she participated in the Ladies Golf Association for many years. She was also a member of the Thetis Book Club and the Greenville German Club.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Eula Mae King, Hazel Hope, Lottie B. King and Ellen Keen; brothers, Grady Bradshaw and Clyde Bradshaw.

Mrs. King is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roscoe L. King; sons, Vick King and wife, Sue, of Washington and David King and wife, Lee Lee, of Wilmington; brother, Clyde Bradshaw of Clinton; sister, Alice Knoles and husband, Bobby, of Benson; grandchildren, Sarah King, of Towson, Md., and John Robert King, Lela Elizabeth King and

David Anderson King all of Wilmington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 – 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
