Clinton Dark Horse girls took their game on the road Tuesday against Northside and proved their mettle, bringing home two conference wins.
The JV swept, winning 25-15; 25-10.
Coach Jennifer Miller said she was pleased with the way the girls played Tuesday. “I thought they played a solid game all around. They went to Northside with a desire to win, and they took care of business.”
For the JV, Tyler Ray had 7 assists; Elizabeth Tsao had 4 kills and Taylor Southerland had 4 aces.
The varsity had a little tougher time, but a desire to win helped lift them over their home-playing opponents. Clinton won in five — 14-25; 25-16; 30-28; 13-25; 15-11.
“The varsity played a pretty good game. We made some mistakes, particularly when it came to our serves, and that cost us some points but, in the end, we came to win. We wanted it more and we were able to get it.”
For Clinton’s varsity, Peyton Mitchell had 5 kills, 15 digs; Tori Tyndall, 4 kills, 7 digs; Vivi Sarp, 4 kills; and Emily Wrench, 5 kills.
Clinton returns home for a Thursday game against South Lenoir. Games begin at 4:30 p.m.
