Chase lands one in jail

A Salemburg man has received charges following a vehicle pursuit, in which he attempted to elude law enforcement officers over the weekend and was subsequently found in violation of several motor vehicle and alcohol-related offenses.

The chase occurred in the Roseboro area Saturday, as Sampson County Sheriff’s deputies were trying to conduct a routine vehicle stop on a 1992 GMC Yukon being driven by William Goodman.

According to reports, the vehicle did not stop for blue lights and siren and the chase was initiated at 8:19 p.m. on Gold Street, Roseboro. Goodman was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

Goodman, of 1414 Minnie Hall Road, Salemburg, was charged with felonious fleeing to elude law enforcement, driving while license revoked, revoked registration, stop sign violation, left of center, speeding, open container and driving after consuming.

His bond was set at $10,000 secured.
