Clinton’s girls volleyball team clipped the Eagles’ wings Monday night in a varsity-only matchup. The Lady Horses won in four, 13-25; 25-22; 25-22; 25-18.
Although the girls started slow, coach Jennifer Miller said they quickly picked up their pace after falling in the first set.
“Once we got going, the girls played a great game,” Miller said. “Their passing was beautiful, setting up great hits.”
Kiandra Johnson, the coach stressed, played an “awesome game,” getting 16 kills and 5 digs on the night. Other stats include Tori Tyndall, 12 kills and 9 digs; Peyton Mitchell, 5 kills, 8 digs; Vivi Sarp, 3 blocks and 4 kills; Maggie Wells, 16 assists; and Katelyn O’Neal, 12 assists.
The win moves Clinton’s girls to 7-9 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
The Horses hit the road Wednesday for a game against Richlands.
Miller said Monday night’s win was a perfect momentum booster. “It was a great game and a good way to lead us into the second round of conference play.”
