The Sampson County-Clinton City Retired School Personnel established a scholarship to encourage students to continue their education and enter the teaching profession. The 2012 winner of the $400 award is Majesta Lee Young, a Hobbton High School graduate. Young is the daughter of Jeanna Whitman and Martie Young of Newton Grove and has enrolled at East Carolina University. Her intended major is Middle School Social Studies and Language Arts Education.
