Hobbton entered the den of the Tigers Tuesday night, and they felt the power of their claws, with the JV and varsity falling.

Although they didn’t get the W, coach Russell Jones said he saw good things from both his teams, but a lack of consistency left them empty-handed.

The JV fell in two, 25-15; 25-18.

“I thought the girls played better as they went along,” Jones said of the JV. “In the end, we simply couldn’t catch up.”

Individually for the junior Wildcats, Melissa Galleagos had 1 ace and 3 assists; Kaley Matthews, 2 aces, 2 kills; Taylor Aman, 1 ace; Joanna Hinson, 4 kills; and Reese Holland 1 assist.

The varsity took the match to four games, winning the first 23-25, but then losing the next three, 25-14; 25-18; 25-18.’

Jones said the varsity made some good shots, but they simply weren’t consistent enough to get back-to-back-to back points to win the sets.

Individually for the varsity Taylor Bowden had 3 aces, 2 kills, 21 assists; Marcie McLamb, 2 kills; Casey Hobbs, 1 ace, 12 kills, 1 assist, 3 block; Michaela Wilson, 4 aces, 5 kills; Courtney Phipps, 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 assist; McKenna Smith, 6 kills and 1 block.

Hobbton plays host to cross-county rival Union Thursday, with games beginning at 4:30 p.m.
